THREE FAVOURITE VIDEOS

My three favourite Gorgon City music videos:

1. All Four Walls ft. Vaults

This is one of my favourite videos as it uses simple locations, costumes and colour schemes to present the narrative of the video. The Video combines with the lyrics of “four walls” showing the restrictions that teenagers have when growing up. It also involves the characters speaking in the slower part of the song bringing the audiences focus on them and their lives, this then helps the audience to determine the lyrics as well as what is going on in the music video. It also has a lot of fast pace shots to show the rush and excitement of teens lives when out.

2. Unmissable ft. Zak Abel

This music video uses only a few locations with focus on a heterosexual couple. There is numerous close up slow-motion shot to catch the essence of specific moments in the music video. The close up of the characters eyes could be suggesting an intertextual reference to the film Psycho. It gives the audience a sense of depth when watching the video and really engages the attention on this specific part.

3.Ready for your love

All of Gorgon City’s music videos have very similar conventions involving dark areas with club lights and people dancing. I really like this music video as it has a combination of slow and fast shots depending on the pace of the music.  I would like to take the same idea of starting my own music video with slow shots just like in this music video and as the faster the pace of the music the faster the shots to create a build-up.

  1. Detailed and useful research Frankie. Well done!

Now think about creating synergy between these and your storyboard.
